Why does the United States support Israel, but not Kurdistan?

The Jews lost their country a thousand years ago and that's very sad. They do deserve a country of their own. But they are not the only stateless groups in the world. American Indians, for instance, or Tibet. The Kurds are the largest single ethnic group without an independent country. Yet the United States considers them terrorists and allows Turkey to violate Iraqi sovereignty to kill them.
