What is the fluttering feeling in my ear?

For almost 3 months now I have had a nerve (or my eardrum) fluttering in my ear. It is driving me bonkers! When it happens, I can probe around my ear and find a spot where if I apply pressure it stops. It is not necessarily in the same area that I find relief. It is not a bug, it is not that kind of fluttering, it feels like my ear drum or a nerve...something along that line. No, I really don't want to go to the doctor so I am asking if anyone has had any experience with this. Anyone go through the same thing and ever find out what it is and how to stop it?
