Embarssing problem at mother-inlaw funeral?

at my mother-in-law grave-sde service, I suddenly developed a loud and offensive odored "gas" problem. Now my wife wont speak to me, 2 days later. She says I was rude, rude, rude, I did it on purpose, I never liked Sylvia(the deceased) and she might leave me for awhile. Seems too severe huh? I told her this is a bodily function, no control, didnt do it on purpose, her fault cause she served me nasty chili night before, etc> She says all bull--- HELP!
